Our Story
At Moot Lab, we believe that transforming healthcare begins at the bedside, where providers and patients connect, where critical decisions are made, and where compassionate care becomes reality.
Our approach is built on the belief that healthcare leadership is in the midst of a compassion crisis. Research shows the healthcare burnout is at an all time high. Moot Lab seeks to change that by equipping systems and healthcare professionals with the compassionate mindset they need to deliver exceptional care.
Too often, quality improvement feels disconnected from the frontlines. We're changing that. Moot Lab brings intuitive, practical tools directly to the point of care, making it easy for teams to identify issues, communicate effectively, and drive meaningful change in real-time. No complex systems. No administrative burden. Just simple, powerful solutions that work where care happens.
We partner with healthcare organizations to build cultures of psychological safety and continuous improvement, where every voice matters, every concern is heard, and every team member is empowered to lead. Because when healthcare professionals feel supported and equipped, patients receive the care they deserve.
Better tools. Compassionate framework. Transformative results.
Meet the Founder
Karen McIntyre, MSN, MSEd, RN, has worked in healthcare for over 15 years. Her experiences as a bedside nurse, manager, and senior healthcare leader have shaped her perspectives on what works- and what doesn’t- in today’s healthcare industry. As a Quality and Safety leader, Karen has led teams focused on improving system outcomes through the implementation of novel tools and a “people first” mindset. Karen believes that quality improvement can be kind, compassionate, and within reach of every healthcare worker.
Karen is currently completing her doctoral studies in the University of Pennsylvania Chief Learning Officer program, studying the impact of compassionate leadership on quality and safety outcomes and financial performance in acute care hospitals.
Why “moot”?
The term "moot" has deep roots in collaborative decision-making. Historically, a "moot" was a gathering or assembly where communities came together to discuss important matters, deliberate on challenges, and reach consensus. It was a space for open dialogue, where every voice could be heard and collective wisdom guided action.
At Moot Lab, we've reclaimed this powerful concept for modern healthcare. We believe the best solutions emerge when teams come together in psychologically safe spaces to openly discuss what's working, what's not, and how to improve. Just like those historic assemblies, we create environments where:
Every perspective matters, from the C-suite to the bedside
Difficult conversations happen with respect and compassion
Collective intelligence drives better outcomes than top-down mandates
Action follows discussion: it's not just talk, it's transformation
In healthcare, the most critical improvements happen when we gather, listen, communicate with empathy, and collaborate on solutions. That's the heart of what we do.
